Nickol Bay Speedway, Karratha

-20.677192, 116.749352, Western Australia, Australia

While the club considers its origins and early racing history to date back to 1972, the venue held its formal opening race day on that date in March 1974, followed by its first race under lights in 1975. The venue grew to host state and national events, including the WA Modified Sedan Title and the Ansett Sprintcar Classic. In February 2020 severe Tropical Cyclone Damien hit the Karratha region, causing catastrophic damage to the speedway's catch fencing, spectator areas, and infrastructure. Through community support, the venue underwent a massive rebuild and modern upgrade. In 2022, the club celebrated 50 years of racing at its revamped 508-metre clay oval track. Today, Nickol Bay Speedway operates primarily during the cooler Pilbara months (April through September). It routinely hosts division classes including Sprintcars, Wingless Sprints, and Speedway Sedans Australia divisions.
